With the ODI series against Australia all set to begin, England have named a balanced squad for the tough five-match series. While neither team will start as favourites, England would believe they have a decent chance of winning considering their great recent run, and also the fact that Australia drew the one-day series 2-2 against a weak West Indian side.

The Irish team is going to be led by William Porterfield and will be missing the services of their regular fast bowler Boyd Rankin, who is recovering from a foot injury. The one-off ODI between Ireland and Australia has been branded as the RSA Challenge and will be played at the Civil Service Cricket Club in Stormont, Belfast on the 23rd of this month. Ireland are no minnows with quite a lot of its players involved in English County Cricket over the years. In the 2007 World Cup, Ireland were a sensation as they tied with Zimbabwe, defeated a fancy Pakistan team and crushed Bangladesh. In the 2011 World Cup, Ireland went onto score a historic victory against England. Ireland were incredible that day when they chased down a huge target of 329 with five balls to spare thanks to a blistering century from Kevin O’Brien. The Irish team is being coached by former West Indian all-rounder Phil Simmons.
